AquaSpec™-Technology – innovative and multi-faceted
For decades now scientists have been using spectroscopic methods in their research to obtain a wide range of information on chemical substances, mixtures and their reaction processes. Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), operating in the near infrared range (NIR), has proven to be a measurement procedure for numerous applications for quality assurance and process control.
Due to stringent requirements for detection sensitivity for disease-specific patterns and the complex composition of biological samples (blood serum) NIR-based methods in diagnosis could not get established.
Other than NIR spectroscopy, AquaSpec™ technology utilises mid infrared range (MIR). This offers a clear advantage for information content due of the essentially higher resolution capacity in spectra and the significantly greater detection sensitivity (factor of 100 to 1000) relative to NIR. Because almost every substance interacts with infrared radiation, now it takes just one quick measurement using AquaSpec™ technology to record all relevant information of a sample.
